What is Gymnosophy

The philosophy behind living without clothing

Gymnosophy — derived from the Greek words Gymnos meaning naked and Sophia meaning wisdom — is widely accepted as the most appropriate term to describe the philosophy of living without clothing, commonly referred to as naturism or nudism in modern society.

There is, however, much more to this philosophy than meets the eye.

While the concept of naturism or nudism is now relatively well accepted as being practised within designated areas, the subject still garners a high level of misconception within modern society.

A little history

It is a well-known fact that in Ancient Greek times, the Olympics was performed nude. However, we also have to acknowledge the fact that, at the time, it was a strictly male activity, with women not even allowed to spectate.

Gymnosophy is intrinsically linked to naturism and nudism — the study of clothing-optional lifestyles, and the wisdom of living comfortably in the body we were born in.
